ArtNouvélo offers an artistic perspective on the fascinating world of cycling.
By connecting word and image, we bring tales that go a little deeper than the skin.
- "..a mix of Merckx and Horta.."Why the name "ArtNouvélo"?
Well, we – the founders Bruno and Andreas - are passionate about Arts and Cycling. While we both have an international network and lived in several places in the world, the city of Brussels is a crucial place for us. We lived here for years and have walked and biked – even if it’s not always that bike friendly as town- thousands of times through our city, always impressed by its beautiful "Art Nouveau" houses along the streets. Putting the bicycle ("vélo" in French and our Flemish dialekt) and Art Nouveau together, resulted in "ArtNouvélo". Art Nouveau (or Jugendstil) was the dominant international art style during the "Belle Epoque" (late 19th – early 20th century), a golden age for our beloved city, with architect Victor Horta and others creating many landmarks of style. The characteristics of Art Nouveau are a sense of dynamism and movement, which refers again to our passion for cycling. Just as Art Nouveau did, we try to see and represent the beauty in everything, while trying to do something "new" with it. For us this results in the beauty of cycling through our artistic interpretations.
Last but not least, let’s not forget that Brussels is the hometown of the greatest cyclist ever -Eddy Merckx- and coming man Remco Evenepoel. So if you ever wonder "why ArtNouvélo?" : the name of our arts project is to honour the city where we lived and studied, and a sparkling cocktail of Eddy Merckx and Victor Horta.

Passion for Cycling
ArtNouvelo started as an online platform to share our own emotions, creativity and passion for cycling.
Blogs, stories, paintings, cartoons…Wherever this goes, the passion that drives us and keeps us in the saddle, remains the basic! We want to have fun and de-stress from our hectic family life.
Promotion of Talent
Cycling is great on your own, but it's not the same without a bunch of friends. We share our own creativity and give the floor to other talented artists with passion for ‘De Koers’ aka "The Race".. With our platform we want to offer small income generating activities for all fantastic artistic talents that would like to be part of our community. If you are a gifted graffiti artist, painter, sculpture, writer, etc, don’t hesitate to contact us and we put your stuff on our platform.
Helping our Community
We also want to give something back to our beloved cycling world. A part of the revenues, we want to invest on our turn in other cycling community projects. More details to follow but the idea is to support families who lost someone in cycling accidents and to promote cycling sport initiatives in Burkina Faso.

Andreas
The Writer.
Believer in and co-founder of ArtNouvélo. Andreas studied Political Sciences. In his own words : "the equivalent of nothing." Don't let this mislead you though - the dude's having a versatile live, between Brussels and the midst of the African continent. Whenever he's not on the bicycle, he's talking or writing about it.

Bruno
The Painter.
Founder and creative engine of ArtNouvélo. Bruno studied Geography. Not because he wanted to learn all flags and capitals of the world, but to nurture his curiosity for everything there is to see on this planet. He loves to paint and he loves to cycle, so he paints cyclists. Always in for a joke, only funny occasionally.
